Purpose
This site exists to preserve, transcribe, research and share The Whitwar and the history surrounding it. It seeks to foster a courteous and constructive atmosphere in keeping with the charitable spirit in which the magazine was first conceived.
The project is independent and non-partisan. It does not seek to advance a political programme and is not affiliated with Gladys Warren, her family, the former hospital or any present-day organisation.
Historical accuracy and context
Historical material will be presented accurately and in good faith wherever possible. Transcriptions retain the wording of their sources, while modern commentary will be clearly distinguished from the historical record.
Period sources can contain language and attitudes that are paternalistic, prejudiced or distressing. Preserving such wording does not imply endorsement; it allows the material to be studied honestly and critically.
Errors will be corrected promptly when identified. Readers are warmly invited to contribute evidence, suggest amendments or draw attention to omissions.
Privacy and participation
Personal information submitted through this site will not be sold or shared and will be used only for its stated purpose. Public guestbook messages will be moderated before publication.
Independence and charitable references
The Whitwar archive is not a registered charity and is not currently conducting fundraising or publishing a revived magazine. References to charities and supportive organisations are provided for historical context or practical information and do not imply endorsement beyond their stated mission.
